  1. Thanks for posting this period farce! Mother Riley was a product of British racial stereotype humor of the 30s-50s. The Brits of that day thought the Irish, old ladies, and the lower classes were silly/funny, and Mother Riley was all three. Sort of a cross between Granny of the Beverley Hillbillies and the 3 Stooges. It was similar to Hispanic stereotypes among the Yanks of that period. (Remember Bill Dana's "My nane Jose Hemenez."?)

  2. Of course, nowadays nobody watches this movie for Mother Riley. They watch to see the swansong of the great Bela Lugosi in his last vampire role before he hit absolute rock bottom with PLAN 9 and BRIDE OF THE MONSTER. Sad!

  3. The title "Vampire Over London" might make you think you are in for a serious horror film, rather than a slapstick farce that makes the Three Stooges look like Shakespeare in the Park. 🙂

  4. Oh…my….God…  This is absolutely wonderful!  Why have we in the U.S.A. been deprived of this movie for so long?

We need a remake of this classic!  But with Robin Williams gone (RIP) who can play Mrs. Riley?!?

  5. Somebody shut that bitch up!! Stop her singing!!. She gives me the creeps. Its not even amusing. I Love Bela…but cant put up with that weirdo. And if you think I don't get the humour,..I'm Irish & lived in the UK for over 20 yrs. Mother Reilly…My Arse!!!!

  6. WTF is this old bag in drag doing singing some crap in a Bella movie ? Oh poor Bella what had they done to you ? Between your addiction and the need for $ they have taken a master actor and make him a clown !! Oh the shame of it !!!
